![]() The "stuff" on your feed ramps is bullet jacket metal that has been smeared onto the ramps. And they will probably ask you about that when you call SIG, so give it a shot anyway. Thoroughly cleaning, then properly lubricating the rifle is likely going to be a real, and simple fix. Like most gun makers, SIG uses preservative coatings on new guns that are not necessarily good lubricants. Is this stuff on the feed ramps normal? It is hard and will need to be scraped off.ĭid you clean the rifle before you shot it? The instructions with my 716 very clearly stated that it needed to be cleaned before use. The live rounds that failed to feed have scratch marks on the bullet. The gas valve was in the 12 o'clock position which I understand is normal. This was 10 year old South African ammo that was the remainder of a case that always fired well with my old Bushmaster. I was shooting with a friend who had a DI gun and my loaded mags/rounds fired out of his with no issues. It always fed a new round when I released the bolt from its locked back position. It would eject the spent casing but not chamber the new round completely leaving about 1/4" of brass showing. ![]() I repeated this fifteen or twenty times with the same results except once when it did not eject the empty casing before trying to feed a new round. ![]() I could not get it to fire more than one or two rounds before jamming. It fired a couple of rounds and then the bolt did not cycle completely. I bought a new Sig 516 gen 2 a while back and finally got a chance to shoot it. ![]()
